TV Easel

TV has come a long way over the years, bigger but thinner. Hell you aint cool unless you got your tube hanging on a wall like a piece of art. Why not present your artwork while it is still in production with this TV Easel ($1,000). Built from solid hardwood to hold televisions up to 60 inches, the TV Easel also features a height-adjustable design, integrated component storage and wire management, a hand-applied, four-step antiqued ebony finish, and the ability to double as, well, an easel, for artwork, mirrors, or other display items.

Wood Rich = Eric Bailey's Wild Life

We are weeks away from making the trip up to San Francisco for the much anticipated solo exhibition of the homie Eric Bailey’s recent paintings.

Eric Bailey, the man behind Growing Pains Studios, and ghost designer for brands such as: Adidas, DGK, Converse, DCMA, Burton, Nike, and Cerbae; gears up for a solo exhibition at Push Studios (SF), September 5th, 2009 from 7:00 – 11:00pm.

This NorCal native of Big Sur and Santa Cruz, Califas to the streets of San Francisco, Bailey finds artistic inspiration in the natural meets modern. Bailey currently resides in Los Angeles where he intends to take his concept of naturalism versus materialism even further. Intermingling the two-standout energies of Northern and Southern California, Bailey plans to give life to the final product. Wild Life.

We had a chance sit with Eric and capture a couple sneak peak shots of him hard at work in his LA Studio hideaway.

San Fran here we come!

Inglewood Up To No Good = HARD Fest 2009

Nothing more I can say about last nights Hard Festival that you probably cant see from the pics I took on the iPhone . The shit was weak, kids everywhere acting like assholes giving Security and the Local Authorities shit for trying to keep the event under control. Eventually they lost control of the unruly crowd, people were hopping fences trying to get in, inside the arena people jumping down from the organized seating to the pit level, it was mess! The Fire Marshal pulled the plug on the show a little after 11pm (scheduled to go till 4am), they brought in riot police and began to do what they do best. Here’s what the people from HARD say on hardfest.com/…
“LOS ANGELES — August 9th, 2009

We were required to shut down Hard Summer at The Forum last night by the Los Angeles County Fire Department. They declared the event a “hazard” after seeing concertgoers jumping from the balcony to the floor, along with numerous other potentially dangerous activities. The Inglewood Police Department backed the decision of the Fire Department and assisted in the clearance of the venue.

While we, the promoters, worked with the authorities to consider other options to continue the concert, ultimately they made the decision based on the safety of the concertgoers. We are happy to report that there were no major injuries.

We are offering refunds to all concertgoers.”
Something told me not to bring the DSLR so I apologize for the shitty photos. Although, Morb shot some party pics from the parking lot that I’m waiting on and will ad on to this post sometime this week. Here’s some food for thought, lets try and keep the “All Age” events at the local Catholic School carnivals? We hope the people from HARD cant bounce back after this “No-Show”, we like you’re events just not the daycare that comes with it.

Nike Women's Gladiator Sandals

WTF?! Check out these new female Gladiator sandals Nike just dropped. Nike’s version of the popular footwear is not a FAIL by any means. I think they are super cute and cant wait to head to the Nike Flagship and pick me up some. There are two colorways for this release, an all black/ white version and the other being an all white/ gold. I can totally see myself walking my little pooch down Hollywood Blvd. sporting these fly sandal sneaks.

Sabina Kelley :: Kills Softly

Ladies and gentlemen, I’d like you to witness Bettie Page reincarnated in Miss Sabina Kelley! This Burlesque Dancing, Pinup Model is just too good to be true (5’10”, 34DD, 25, 38). This post probably has little to do with design & aesthetics, but it does possess 3 superior qualities that a strapping young lad such as myself (and others) look for in female. If you cant figure that out by the time you are done with this treat of a post, you probably should leave and never return.
“I do know that I have opened a lot of doors for girls who are heavily tattooed to model now in the industry, and showing the world that you can be heavily tattooed and still be classy, beautiful, sexy, and successful.”

Talk of a possible TV show in the near future for this gem. No details about that here, but check her out at switchbladestilettos.com

NIN Power Outage Video In Sydney

Nine Inch Nails are obviously back with some new music for the 09, the slip is a valiant effort and overall in my opinion a good pick up. Sometimes shit happens to even the biggest of bands, a power outage is never good.

Here is why I drove to Fresno one year to catch a show. So sick.

The Game @ Nokia Club

The West Coast was in full affect last night at the Nokia Club in Downtown LA. We hit the streets with one goal in mind, get trashed! After dusting a bottle of Segrems 7 before we walked over to the venue, the closer and closer we got the more robust the scent of West Coast Hip Hop!
Looks like The Game was out to get fucked up too…

Photo of the Day:: Skier Hangs Upside Down Naked (SFW, I think?)

JANUARY 6–In a bizarre incident that will surely lead to litigation (or an out-of-court settlement), a skier at Colorado’s ritzy Vail resort was left dangling upside down and pants-less from a chairlift last Thursday morning. The January 1 mishap apparently occurred after the male skier, 48, and a child boarded a high-speed lift in Vail’s Blue Sky Basin.

“Dad, your dicks as big as mine, and I’m 7?!”

Hahahaha, I wonder how much settlement money you get for hanging off a ski lift with your asshole out?

Omg, this is too hilarious!

Deftones :: Ventura Show

No better way to ring in the Halloween season then a Deftones show in Ventura, CA Friday night. A couple of us took a mini roadtrip up the 101N to see what these sleeping giants had under their “tatted” sleeves. The band hasn’t step foot on the stage in over a year, so we didn’t really know what to expect, but we were 100% certain these homeboys were going to bring it!

Ambivalence: A Photography Exhibition

GABExONE, a craftsman in capturing the memorable moments of Los Angeles urban/metropolitan life at it’s purest form, has compiled years of work (along with new photo sets), for one night of photography done right. Moments, surroundings, can all be identified and held dear when Gabe Enamorado is behind the lens. Tonight we commemorate the hard-work of this young artist by inviting you to attend a truly memorable evening in Los Angeles Art Culture.

The City of Downey (CA) has acknowledged GABExONE as a hometown hero, and has offered to host one of his biggest Photography Exhibits to date tonight in The Downey Theatre.

Miranda Kerr Outtakes Are Angelic

I’m a big fan of GQ Magazine, because they manage to convince some of the world’s most attractive women to strip down. Towards the end of January the magazine released pictures of Miranda Kerr in various stages of undress. At that time I commented on how perfect Kerr is, but the outtakes from said photo-shoot only reinforce that fact. When I hear the word outtake, I assume there was a reason the pictures didn’t make the cut. With these outtakes I tend to think it was a spacial issue because they’re every bit as good as the photos that did make it into the magazine. Check them out below.

Doc J Raps For A Cure

There are a lot of ingenuous people in the entertainment industry, people who won’t give you the time of day unless it benefits them. Because of this, it’s always nice to meet a man who truly cares about the well being of others. About a month ago I had the chance to sit down with just such a man, Long Island rapper Doc J. Born Lewis Jassey, Doc J is unlike anyone else in the Hip Hop world.

Every morning Jassey gets up and goes to an office, a doctor’s office. You see, Doc J is actually a pediatrician by day. But, when the work day is done for most, Jassey heads into the booth to record with the Raw Poets crew. Jassey’s music plays off the fact that he’s doctor, but it’s more than just a gimmick. Doc J uses the proceeds from his music to benefit ALS and Autism research. As a pediatrician he’s cured several children plagued by Autism; so, he knows how troublesome the disease can be. ALS is also a disease close to Jassey because it took his father’s life.

Doc J has been making a name for himself lately with school visits, concerts, and and a feature on the NBC news. I wanted to expose Doc J to all of you with the hope that you’ll head over to his website and donate money to the cause. Down below I’ve included the video of his NBC appearance and a couple tracks that Jassey was nice enough to send me.

May 25th Comes Early

A year ago Bobby Ray Simmons was named one of XXL’s Freshman Class, an honor bestowed upon 10 of the most promising stars in Hip Hop. In the time since Bobby Ray has changed his name from B.O.B. back to Bobby Ray and now he is vacillating between both. He uses Bobby Ray for tracks that he’s singing on and B.O.B. for his raps. It is this mix of Soul and Hip Hop that’s garnered Simmons comparisons to Andre 3000. The comparison is nice but it undervalues the unique nature of B.O.B.’s rhymes.

Yesterday, B.O.B. released his much anticipated mixtape, May 25th. The name is misleading at first but it’s the date that Simmons plans to release his debut album on T.I.’s Grand Hustle Records. In the meantime, May 25th provides a great appetizer. It shows off the multiple sides of Bobby Ray who actually produced the majority of it himself. On “Cool Side” B.O.B. appeals to a very special lady with a cocky swagger that you have to admire. Shortly before this, on “Surprise Me,” he bodies an Infinity beat.

The mixtape also has a nice share of features including J. Cole on the track “Gladiators” and Tre on the song “Bet I.” Charles Hamilton, a fellow XXL Freshman drops in on the dance friendly “Fool For Love.” But the standout feature comes from Asher Roth on “Fuck The Money;” the song was produced by Kanye West and has a sick sample of the Joni Mitchell classic “River.” Roth and B.O.B. trade verses on the song, reflecting on the price of frame. The mixtape closes with the lead single from B.O.B.’s debut album, “Nothing On You,” which features Bruno Mars. The track has been gaining traction with radio play lately, and rightfully so. You can download the tape here courtesy of Daily Tunez and listen to “Fuck The Money” down below.

Another, More Complex, Look At Alison Brie.

It was only a few days ago that I posted the preview video of Alison Brie’s Complex Magazine photo shoot.  That post was picked up by a number of other websites who share our adoration for Ms. Brie. Yesterday evening the pictures from the shoot were released. Considering how fantastic the video was, I was expecting a little bit more from Complex. Gone from the magazine’s final spread are the ice cream shots and all but one of the strawberry photos. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the outtakes will leak soon but I don’t want to undersell how amazing Alison looks in the photos they did keep. Anyway, check them out in the gallery below.

KiD CuDi – Highs N Lows (via Dot Da Genius)

KiD CuDi’s song, Highs N Lows definitely thew a curve ball at me, to be honest, I wasn’t expecting him to throw Bob Dylan in the mix. Pretty sick, thanks Dot Da Genius for the song!

Here’s the gist:
“This must be the realest shit ever. We did this track like 3-4 yrs ago during the grind, trying to get shit moving. Just knowing what he was dealing with during this time period makes this record more than just a song. The sample used in the song was taken from Bob Dylan’s “Lay Lady Lay”. I noticed a bad quality version of it leaked so I figure might as well put out a better version.”
